Hera II: 02.11.2017 Kapali Bay. Ile de Meganisi/Meganisi Island

Très beau et très calme. Nous partons après avoir donné son petit déjeuner à la chatte. Nous longeons la côte où nous avons marché hier. Profitant du temps calme et de la place autour de nous, Jens veut recalibrer le compas de l’autopilote. C’est drôle, l’autopilote dit lui-même ce qu’il faut faire : « turn the boat », c'est-à-dire qu’il faut ralentir et faire deux grands ronds dans l’eau. Puis Jens le reprogramme et il marche après cela. Les Suédois nous ont conseillé d’aller à Vathi (encore un Vathi), capitale de l’ile de Meganisi, mais il fait si beau et c’est si calme que nous décidons d’ancrer dans une baie, la baie de Kapali. Cette baie est divisée en deux par un petit cap et nous allons d’abord dans la baie de gauche, mais c’est construit de grandes villas, toutes entourées de grilles et de barrières. Nous allons donc dans la baie de droite, plus sauvage. Un voilier y est déjà, mais il y a de la place. Nous ancrons et l’ancre accroche du premier coup. Baignade et lunch. Après le repos quotidien nous allons voir l’autre bateau ancré. Ce sont deux jeunes Italiens. Jens leur demande s’ils savent la route pour aller à pied à Vathi, mais ils n’en savent pas plus que nous. Nous allons en Zodiac à une « plage », quelques mètres où on peut accoster, puis partons à pied. En une demi-heure nous sommes à Vathi, village bien endormi. Nous faisons le tour du port et, à la marina, demandons si on peut venir acheter du diésel, oui, pas de problème, donc nous viendrons demain. Nous voyons le bateau italien arriver au port, donc nous serons seuls ce soir. Retour à Hera II qui n’a pas bougé. Jens va en ramant au point où il pense que l’ancre est accrochée au fond et programme le « anchor watch », le système qui nous prévient si on dérive trop. Puis blog pour moi, réparation des tiroirs pour Jens : il refait les petites cales qui empêchent les tiroirs de tomber quand le bateau roule. Il est obligé de bricoler un mini-tournevis pour pouvoir visser les cales dans l’ouverture des tiroirs. Quel bricoleur, ce Jens. Soirée calme et beau clair de lune.

The Swedes advised us to go to Vathi (another one), capital of Meganisi Island, but it is so beautiful and so quiet that we decide to anchor in a bay, Kapali Bay. This bay is divided in two by a small cape and we first go to the left bay, but it is built of large villas, all surrounded by railings and gates. So we go to the right bay, wilder. A sailboat is already there, but there is room for us. We anchor and the anchor takes hold the first time. Bathing and lunch. After the daily rest, we row to see the other yacht crewed by two young Italians. Jens asks them if they know the road to go to Vathi, but they know no more than us. We row with the dinghy to a "beach", a few flat meters where we can go to land, then start walking. In half an hour we are in Vathi, a sleepy village. We go around the port and, at the marina, ask if we can come and buy diesel, yes, no problem, so we’ll come tomorrow. We see the Italian boat arrive in the port, so we'll be alone tonight. Back to Hera II which didn’t move. Jens rows to the point where he thinks the anchor is hooked to the bottom and programs the "anchor watch", the system that warns us if we drift too much. Then blog for me and repairing the drawers for Jens: he remakes the small wedges that prevent the drawers from falling when the boat is rolling. He is obliged to make a mini-screwdriver to be able to screw the wedges in the drawers opening. What a handyman, this Jens. Quiet evening and beautiful moonlight.
